Analytical Techniques for Developing Argumentative Writing in STEM: A Pilot Study

Contribution: Demonstrates how to use experiential learning (EL) improve argumentative writing. Presents the design and development of a natural language processing (NLP) application for aiding instructors in providing feedback on student essays. Discusses EL combined with automated support provides an analytical approach improving written-communication skills. xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Background: High-quality, timely, is effective way students’ However, large class sizes limited instructor backgrounds often make formative impossible. Recent trends, including lowering entry requirements, have added these challenges. Assistive technologies implementing inclusive education provide viable solutions. xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Research Questions: 1) How why can be used develop writing skills university STEM students? 2) developed using teaching writing? 3) might holistic impact such analytic techniques evaluated? xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Methodology: Participants project were assigned two essays sequence.
